New Autumn Ballet Classes

An autumn series of ballet classes for kids aged 3-10 has been set here at the Old Stone House of Hasbrouck.

The 10-class series will be taught by local resident and certified Dance Therapist Alana Sherman, who led the successful spring classes and brings 30 years of experience to the task.

The one-hour sessions begin at 10:30 am Saturday, October 12, and continue on all subsequent Saturdays except November 23. The last class is scheduled for December 21.
“There’s no competition in the classes,” says Ms. Sherman. “They’ll all be no-pressure beginner lessons, so everybody can have fun dancing, and learning about ballet, no matter their background or athletic ability.”

The classes will, however, follow the customary ballet class structure -- warm-up exercises, then use of the horizontal railing known as a barre, plus so-called “center” work, with students learning how to adjust their positions and movements in relationship to all their classmates.
Tuition for each student is $10 per class, or $80 for all ten sessions. Each additional child in the same family costs just $70.For complete ballet class information and registration, email Alana Sherman at, or call her at (845) 436-0070.
