“The Lion King” Roars in Hasbrouck

The Stageworks theater company headquartered here at the Old Stone House has successfully staged “The Lion King,” one of America’s most popular shows, before an enthusiastic audience of family and friends.

In the production -- under our huge pavilion on Thursday, June 20th -- more than a dozen kids temporarily transformed themselves into lions, warthogs, hyenas and other native African creatures. They told the story of Simba, a young lion set to take his father Mufasa's place as king. There was action aplenty after Simba's uncle Scar killed Mufasa, and the cast certainly earned their bows at the end.
